WOW -- a lot of time has passed since I even thought about this blog. SOOOO much has changed --- all for the better.
My boys are back in the US!!! That was such a HUGE relief --- it is indescribable. My mind won't even let me try to remember how horrible that felt.
The older one will be in grad school in June (his wife is already in grad school). He and his wife will be instructors at their "school" (West Point) soon. They are very happy to actually be together for an extended period of time. Currently they are on an Alaskan cruise.
The younger one re-injured his knee in Iraq and was sent back to the US for additional surgery after seven months of service. That was a lucky break (ha-ha, get it?).
Both girls are now married and the younger one is pregnant. I'M GOING TO BE A GRANDMA!!!
My husband had triple bypass surgery in October 2007; he recovered quickly and is so much healthier now. He works out three days a week; no more coffee/alcohol/women (no---that last part was a joke---he's a good guy).
And I quit the job I hated so much. It was hard to walk away from a good salary, amazing benefits and friends, but the bitch of a boss was too much to take. She took an instant dislike to me as soon as she was hired (10/07). It was as though her agenda was to make me quit. I'd never experienced anything like that before. The company was letting people go b/c sales were down (petroleum based) so everyone is scared for their jobs. No one would help me out with this person so I had to help myself out --- out the door!
That's been four weeks ago. Bliss reigns in my life now. I'm at a crossroad in life (mid-life crisis?) where I need to decide what I want to do with the rest of it. Going back into an office 8-5 does not really appeal to me but that's where the steady paycheck is. The creativity in my head that could turn into profit can't seem to make its way out. I'm looking into going back to college or acquiring new skills. Since I love fabric so much I've thought about learning upholstery and slipcover making. People who know me best say I should definitely pursue sewing as a career. I sure haven't been making much of a hobby of it lately.
Tomorrow I'm going to have a massage and manicure -- courtesy of my children (Mother's Day gift). That's going to be GREAT! Massages are much more blissful when you don't have to pay for them yourself.
I'm still doing yoga. My instructor is amazing. She is just as much a "therapist" as she is a yoga instructor. When I told her I'd quit my job she smiled really big, hugged me and said, "it's about time!" After two weeks of not working she could feel the different in the tension (or lack of) in my shoulders and neck. Now I just have to find a way to continue to pay for private lessons (therapy).
